  1. Sunil Joshi becomes new chairman of BCCI’s selection committee

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Joshi becomes the new chairman of the national selection panel by the BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) in Mumbai. The CAC also select former Indian cricketer Harvinder Singh for a place in the five-member group. The CAC, comprising Madan Lal, RP Singh and Sulakshana Naik, select the two selectors with Joshi replacing South Zone representative MSK Prasad. Harvinder Singh was chosen from the railway zone and replaces Gagan Khoda in the 5 member panel. The CAC will review the panel’s performance after one year and make recommendations accordingly.

 

  1. Uttarakhand Govt announces Gairsain to be its summer capital

The state government of Uttarakhand has announced that “Gairsain” will be the summer capital of Uttarakhand. Gairsain is a tehsil located in Chamoli district. The historic announcement was made by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Trivendra Singh Rawat on the conclusion of his budget speech during the assembly session held in Gairsain. The state Assembly of Uttarakhand is located in Dehradun while assembly sessions are also held in Gairsain.

Uttarakhand was formed on the 9th November 2000 when it was carved out as a separate state from Uttar Pradesh. It became the 27th State of India. After the formation of the state, Dehradun was stated as the provisional capital of Uttarakhand. Garsain was always demanded by the statehood activists as the permanent capital of the state.

 

  1. Cabinet approves merger of 10 PSBs into 4 from 1st April 2020s

According to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the exercise of consolidation of 10 public sector banks (PSBs) into four is on course and the merger will come into effect from the new financial year 1st April 2020. The Union Cabinet has given a go-ahead for the merger proposal. The Central government has been in regular touch with these banks. Finance Minister stated that the merger of Public Sector Banks’ merger is on course and decisions have already been taken by the respective bank boards.

In the biggest consolidation exercise in the banking sector, the union government in August 2019 had announced four major mergers of public sector banks, bringing down their total number to 12 from 27 in 2017.

As per the plan, PSBs will be merged into:

  • United Bank of India and Oriental Bank of Commerce will be merged with Punjab National Bank
  • Syndicate Bank will be merged with Canara Bank.
  • Allahabad Bank will be amalgamated with Indian Bank.
  • Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank will be consolidated with Union Bank of India.

  1. Student Health Card scheme for school children launched in J&K

A “Student Health Card” scheme has been launched in the Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir. Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Girish Chander Murmu launched the “Student Health Card” scheme to check the malnutrition in school going children. This scheme aims to ensure good health of every school going children. According to the “Student Health Card” scheme, the school going children will undergo a regular checkup so that malnutrition can be prevented.

The “Student Health Card” scheme was launched during the programme which was organised by Directorate of Mid Day Meal, School Education Department in cooperation with the National Health Mission.

 

  1. Ajay Bhushan Pandey becomes new Finance Secretary

Government of India appointed the current Revenue Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey as the new Finance Secretary. Pandey replaces current Finance Secretary Rajiv Kumar. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment. He had earlier worked as chief executive officer of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the organization behind the Aadhaar.

 

  1. Indian Army’s International Seminar “Pragyan Conclave 2020” begins

The Indian Army’s International Seminar “Pragyan Conclave 2020” has begin at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi. The seminar has been organised by Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS).

The Pragyan Conclave 2020 seminar united the national and international experts to discuss the complex topic of ‘Changing Characteristics of Land Warfare and its Impact on the Military’. It also provided a platform for discussions on emerging ideas, perspectives and narratives that define the ‘New Age Warfare’.

During the “Pragyan Conclave 2020” seminar, the national and international experts held discussions on two major themes in two sessions. The first session featured the discussions on the theme of “Evolving Warfare: An Insight into the Changing Realm” while the second session featured the discussions on the theme of “The Technological Revolution: A Seminal Challenge”.

 

  1. Environmental activist Jadav Payeng named Commonwealth Points of Light Award

Assam’s Environmental activist Jadav Payeng, popularly called the ‘Forest Man of India’, was named as the 128th Commonwealth Points of Light Award winner. Queen Elizabeth- II has honoured Payeng for his exceptional voluntary service to environmental conservation.

The British Deputy High Commissioner in Kolkata Nick Low would felicitate Payeng on March 11. He also received the Karmayogi Award for 2020 at New Delhi. He has worked for years to transform the sandbar into a home to animals and birds of varied species, named ‘Molai forest’ after him.

President George H. W. Bush first established the award in 1990. He was inaugurated as the forty-first President in 1989. The Commonwealth Points of Light award is given to thank inspirational volunteers across the 53 Commonwealth nations.

 

  1. Sanjay Kumar Panda becomes India’s next Ambassador to Turkey

The Ministry of External Affairs announced Senior diplomat Sanjay Kumar Panda has been appointed as India’s Ambassador to Turkey. He will succeed Sanjay Bhattacharya. He is a 1991 Indian Foreign Service officer, is presently Consul General, Consulate General of India, San Francisco. He is appointed to the post when India-Turkey relations are under strain.

  1. सुनील जोशी BCCI की चयन समिति के नए अध्यक्ष बने

पूर्व भारतीय क्रिकेटर सुनील जोशी मुंबई में BCCI की क्रिकेट सलाहकार समिति (CAC) द्वारा राष्ट्रीय चयन पैनल के नए अध्यक्ष बने। CAC ने पांच सदस्यीय समूह में एक स्थान के लिए पूर्व भारतीय क्रिकेटर हरविंदर सिंह को भी चुना। मदन लाल, आरपी सिंह और सुलक्षण नाइक सहित CAC ने जोशी के साथ दक्षिण क्षेत्र के प्रतिनिधि एमएसके प्रसाद की जगह दो चयनकर्ताओं का चयन किया। हरविंदर सिंह को रेलवे ज़ोन से चुना गया और 5 सदस्य पैनल में गगन खोड़ा की जगह ली गई। सीएसी एक वर्ष के बाद पैनल के प्रदर्शन की समीक्षा करेगा और तदनुसार सिफारिशें करेगा।

 

  1. उत्तराखंड सरकार ने गैरेसन को अपनी ग्रीष्मकालीन राजधानी बनाने की घोषणा की

उत्तराखंड की राज्य सरकार ने घोषणा की है कि “गैरेसन” उत्तराखंड की ग्रीष्मकालीन राजधानी होगी। गैरेसन चमोली जिले में स्थित एक तहसील है। ऐतिहासिक घोषणा उत्तराखंड के मुख्यमंत्री त्रिवेंद्र सिंह रावत ने अपने बजट भाषण के समापन पर ग्यासैन में आयोजित विधानसभा सत्र के दौरान की। उत्तराखंड राज्य विधानसभा देहरादून में स्थित है, जबकि विधानसभा सत्र भी गैरेसन में आयोजित किए जाते हैं।

उत्तराखंड का गठन 9 नवंबर 2000 को हुआ था जब इसे उत्तर प्रदेश से अलग राज्य के रूप में बनाया गया था। यह भारत का 27 वाँ राज्य बना। राज्य के गठन के बाद, देहरादून को उत्तराखंड की अस्थायी राजधानी के रूप में बताया गया था। राज्य के कार्यकर्ताओं द्वारा राज्य की स्थायी राजधानी के रूप में गार्सिन की हमेशा मांग की गई थी।

 

  1. कैबिनेट ने 1 अप्रैल 2020 से 4 में 10 पीएसबी के विलय को मंजूरी दी

केंद्रीय वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण के अनुसार, सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के 10 बैंकों (PSB) को चार में समेकित करने की कवायद चल रही है और नए वित्त वर्ष 1 अप्रैल, 2020 से विलय लागू हो जाएगा। केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने विलय के प्रस्ताव को आगे बढ़ा दिया है। केंद्र सरकार इन बैंकों के साथ नियमित संपर्क में है। वित्त मंत्री ने कहा कि सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों का विलय निश्चित रूप से हो रहा है और संबंधित बैंक बोर्डों द्वारा पहले ही निर्णय ले लिए गए हैं।

बैंकिंग क्षेत्र में सबसे बड़े समेकन अभ्यास में, अगस्त 2019 में संघ सरकार ने सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों के चार प्रमुख विलय की घोषणा की थी, 2017 में उनकी कुल संख्या 27 से घटाकर 12 कर दी गई।

योजना के अनुसार, निम्न PSB का विलय कर दिया जाएगा:

  • यूनाइटेड बैंक ऑफ इंडिया और ओरिएंटल बैंक ऑफ कॉमर्स का पंजाब नेशनल बैंक में विलय किया जाएगा
  • सिंडिकेट बैंक का केनरा बैंक में विलय कर दिया जाएगा।
  • इलाहाबाद बैंक को भारतीय बैंक के विलय कर दिया किया जाएगा।
  • आंध्र बैंक और कॉर्पोरेशन बैंक को यूनियन बैंक ऑफ इंडिया के साथ समेकित किया जाएगा।

  1. जम्मू और कश्मीर में स्कूली बच्चों के लिए छात्र स्वास्थ्य कार्ड योजना शुरू की गई

केंद्र शासित प्रदेश जम्मू और कश्मीर में एक “स्टूडेंट हेल्थ कार्ड” योजना शुरू की गई है। जम्मू-कश्मीर के लेफ्टिनेंट गवर्नर गिरीश चंदर मुर्मू ने स्कूल जाने वाले बच्चों में कुपोषण की जांच के लिए “स्टूडेंट हेल्थ कार्ड” योजना शुरू की। इस योजना का उद्देश्य हर स्कूल जाने वाले बच्चों का अच्छा स्वास्थ्य सुनिश्चित करना है। “स्टूडेंट हेल्थ कार्ड” योजना के अनुसार, स्कूल जाने वाले बच्चे एक नियमित जांच से गुजरेंगे ताकि कुपोषण को रोका जा सके।

राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य मिशन के सहयोग से स्कूल शिक्षा विभाग के मिड डे मील निदेशालय द्वारा आयोजित कार्यक्रम के दौरान “स्टूडेंट हेल्थ कार्ड” योजना शुरू की गई थी।

 

  1. अजय भूषण पांडे नए वित्त सचिव बने

भारत सरकार ने वर्तमान राजस्व सचिव अजय भूषण पांडे को नया वित्त सचिव नियुक्त किया। पांडे ने वर्तमान वित्त सचिव राजीव कुमार की जगह ली। मंत्रिमंडल की नियुक्ति समिति ने नियुक्ति को मंजूरी दे दी है। उन्होंने पहले भारतीय विशिष्ट पहचान प्राधिकरण (यूआईडीएआई) के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी के रूप में काम किया था, जो आधार के पीछे संगठन था।

 

  1. भारतीय सेना का अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सेमिनार “प्रज्ञान कॉन्क्लेव 2020” शुरू

भारतीय सेना का अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सेमिनार “प्रज्ञान कॉन्क्लेव 2020” मानेकशॉ सेंटर, नई दिल्ली में शुरू हुआ है। सेमिनार का आयोजन सेंटर फॉर लैंड वारफेयर स्टडीज (CLAWS) द्वारा किया गया है।

प्रज्ञान कॉन्क्लेव 2020 सेमिनार ने राष्ट्रीय और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय विशेषज्ञों को ‘बदलते युद्ध के लक्षण और सैन्य पर इसके प्रभाव’ के जटिल विषय पर चर्चा करने के लिए एकजुट किया। इसने उभरते विचारों, दृष्टिकोणों और आख्यानों पर विचार-विमर्श के लिए एक मंच प्रदान किया जो ‘न्यू एज वारफेयर’ को परिभाषित करता है।

“प्रज्ञान कॉन्क्लेव 2020” सेमिनार के दौरान, राष्ट्रीय और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय विशेषज्ञों ने दो सत्रों में दो प्रमुख विषयों पर चर्चा की। पहले सत्र में “इवॉल्विंग वारफेयर: एन इनसाइट इन द चेंजिंग रिअलम” विषय पर चर्चा हुई, जबकि दूसरे सत्र में “द टेक्नोलॉजिकल रिवोल्यूशन: ए सेमिनल चैलेंज” विषय पर चर्चा हुई।

 

  1. पर्यावरण कार्यकर्ता जादव पायेंग ने कॉमनवेल्थ पॉइंट्स ऑफ़ लाइट अवार्ड का नाम दिया

असम के पर्यावरण कार्यकर्ता जादव पायेंग, जिन्हें लोकप्रिय रूप से ‘फॉरेस्ट मैन ऑफ इंडिया’ कहा जाता है, को प्रकाश पुरस्कार विजेता के 128 वें राष्ट्रमंडल अंक के रूप में नामित किया गया था। क्वीन एलिजाबेथ- II ने पर्यावरण संरक्षण के लिए अपनी असाधारण स्वैच्छिक सेवा के लिए पेन्ग को सम्मानित किया है।

कोलकाता में ब्रिटिश उप उच्चायुक्त निक लो 11 मार्च को पायेंग को सम्मानित करेंगे। उन्होंने नई दिल्ली के लिए 2020 का कर्मयोगी पुरस्कार भी प्राप्त किया। उन्होंने वर्षों तक सैंडबर्बर को विभिन्न प्रजातियों के जानवरों और पक्षियों के घर में बदलने का काम किया, जिसका नाम उनके नाम पर ‘मोलाई वन’ रखा गया।

राष्ट्रपति जॉर्ज एच. डब्ल्यू. बुश ने पहली बार 1990 में पुरस्कार की स्थापना की थी। 1989 में उन्हें चालीसवें राष्ट्रपति के रूप में उद्घाटन किया गया था। कॉमनवेल्थ पॉइंट्स ऑफ़ लाइट का पुरस्कार 53 राष्ट्रमंडल देशों के प्रेरणादायक स्वयंसेवकों को धन्यवाद देने के लिए दिया जाता है।

 

  1. संजय कुमार पांडा तुर्की में भारत के अगले राजदूत बने

विदेश मंत्रालय ने घोषणा की कि वरिष्ठ राजनयिक संजय कुमार पांडा को तुर्की में भारत का राजदूत नियुक्त किया गया है। वह संजय भट्टाचार्य की लेंगे। वह 1991 बैच के भारतीय विदेश सेवा के अधिकारी हैं, जो कि वर्तमान में सैन फ्रांसिस्को में भारत के महावाणिज्य दूतावास में हैं। वह उस समय इस पद पर नियुक्त हुए हैं जब भारत-तुर्की संबंध तनाव में हैं।
