3 scientists win Medicine Nobel for discoveries of how cells use oxygen
The 2019 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded jointly to American scientists William Kaelin Jr and Gregg Semenza, and British biologist Sir Peter Ratcliffe. The trio won it for discoveries of how cells sense and adapt to oxygen availability. The committee said the trio’s discoveries paved way for “new strategies to fight diseases including anaemia and cancer.”
Rajnath Singh officially receives first of 36 Rafale aircraft in France
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh officially received first of the 36 Rafale aircraft in the French port city of Bordeaux. Rajnath held a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron. Rajnath Singh will also take a sortie in the Rafale combat aircraft, which will be flown by a French pilot.
After 2 months of ban, tourists to be allowed in J&K from Thursday
Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has directed that the advisory asking tourists to leave Jammu and Kashmir be lifted on October 10. On August 2, the Jammu and Kashmir government had issued the advisory for Amarnath Yatra pilgrims and tourists to curtail their stay in the valley. A possible terror attack was cited as the reason.
Saturn becomes planet with most moons in solar system
International Astronomical Union’s Minor Planet Center has announced the discovery of 20 new moons around Saturn, bringing its total known moons to 82. The ringed planet has now surpassed Jupiter, which has 79 known moons, as the planet with most moons in the solar system. The new-found moons are very far away from Saturn, a scientist said.
Physics Nobel awarded for cosmology and exoplanet discoveries
The 2019 Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded with one half to James Peebles for theoretical discoveries in physical cosmology and the other half jointly to Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz. Mayor and Queloz received the prize for discovery of an exoplanet orbiting a solar-type star. The 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded for inventions in laser physics.
Asha Bhosle honoured with doctorate degree in England
Singer Asha Bhosle was conferred an honorary doctorate by the University of Salford in Greater Manchester, England. The singer took to Twitter to share a picture in which she is seen receiving the degree. Bhosle has been the recipient of Padma Vibhushan and she also holds the Guinness World Record for the most single studio recordings.

रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह ने आधिकारिक तौर पर फ्रांसीसी बंदरगाह शहर बोर्डो में 36 राफेल विमानों में से पहला प्राप्त किया। राजनाथ ने फ्रांस के राष्ट्रपति इमैनुएल मैक्रॉन के साथ बैठक की। राजनाथ सिंह राफेल लड़ाकू विमान में एक छँटाई भी करेंगे, जिसे एक फ्रांसीसी पायलट द्वारा उड़ाया जाएगा।

जम्मू और कश्मीर के राज्यपाल सत्य पाल मलिक ने निर्देश दिया है कि पर्यटकों को जम्मू-कश्मीर छोड़ने के प्रतिबन्ध को 10 अक्टूबर को उठाया जाएगा। 2 अगस्त को, जम्मू और कश्मीर सरकार ने अमरनाथ यात्रा तीर्थयात्रियों और पर्यटकों के लिए अपने प्रवास को रोकने के लिए सलाहकार जारी किया था। घाटी में संभावित आतंकी हमले का कारण बताया गया था ।

इंटरनेशनल एस्ट्रोनॉमिकल यूनियन के माइनर प्लेनेट सेंटर ने शनि के चारों ओर 20 नए चंद्रमाओं की खोज करने की घोषणा की है, जो अपने कुल ज्ञात चंद्रमाओं को 82 तक लाते हैं। रिंग ग्रह अब बृहस्पति से आगे निकल गया है, जिसमें 79 ज्ञात चंद्रमा हैं, जो सौर मंडल में सबसे अधिक चंद्रमाओं के रूप में ग्रह हैं। एक वैज्ञानिक ने कहा कि नए पाए गए चंद्रमा शनि से बहुत दूर हैं।
