Supreme Court appoints PS Narasimha as mediator to resolve disputes within BCCI
The Supreme Court appointed senior advocate PS Narasimha as a mediator for resolving various disputes related to cricket administration within the cricket body, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Narasimha will hear the BCCI’s position, and then make recommendations to the Committee of Administrators (CoA). Narasimha is assisting the apex court as amicus curiae (court’s friend) in the BCCI matter. The court restrained all other courts in India from hearing any matter pertaining to BCCI and state cricket associations.

World Consumer Rights Day was observed on 15th March
World Consumer Rights Day was celebrated every year on 15 March as part of an initiative by Consumer International, a membership organization for consumer groups around the world. The theme for World Consumers day 2019 is “Trusted Smart Products”.
World Consumer Rights Day was inspired by US President John F Kennedy, who sent a special message to the US Congress on 15th March 1962, in which he formally addressed the issue of consumer rights. He was the first world leader to do so.
M R Kumar appointed LIC chairman
The government has appointed M R Kumar as the chairman of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and Vipin Anand and TC Suseel Kumar as the managing directors (MDs). LIC’s executive board comprises of 1 chairman and 4 managing directors. MR Kumar is currently the Zonal Manager, Delhi at LIC.

RBI categorises IDBI Bank as Private Sector Bank
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on March 14, 2019 categorised the IDBI Bank Limited as a ‘Private Sector Bank for regulatory purposes with effect from January 21, 2019.
The move came following the acquisition of the 51 percent of the total paid-up equity share capital of the IDBI bank by Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). The IDBI Bank was categorised in the sub-group ‘other public sector banks’ by the RBI in April 2005.
India, Pakistan agree to work on operationalizing Kartapur Corridor
India and Pakistan have agreed to work expeditiously on operationalizing the Kartapur Corridor. The corridor will facilitate Indian pilgrims to visit the holy shrine of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib at Kartarpur in Pakistan.
The agreement was reached during the first meeting between the representatives of the two countries held at Attari in Punjab.

HUL MD Mehta elevated as Unilever South Asia President
British-Dutch consumer goods company Unilever on Thursday said Sanjiv Mehta, Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Unilever (HUL), has been elevated as the President of Unilever South Asia. Mehta, who has been in Unilever for more than 26 years, will continue to head HUL. He will become part of the Unilever Leadership Executive, the company added.

Indo-Bangladesh joint military exercise Sampriti 2019 concludes
Exercise Sampriti-VIII, a joint Indo-Bangladesh military exercise which witnessed participation of a company group of 9th Battalion the Rajputana Rifles from the Indian Army and the Company of 36 East Bengal Battalion, Bangladesh Army concluded at Tangail, Bangladesh.
The closing ceremony was graced by Mrs. Riva Ganguly Das, Indian High Commissioner who highlighted the special bonds between the two nations. The exercise was the 8th edition in the Sampriti series, which started in 2009.

SC sets aside life ban imposed on Sreesanth
The Supreme Court of India on March 15, 2019 set aside the life ban imposed by the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) on cricketer S Sreesanth for indulging in spot fixing during 2013 Indian Premier League.
The judgment was delivered by a two-judge bench, comprising Justices Ashok Bhushan and KM Joseph. The bench, while partly allowing Sreesanth’s appeal to lift the ban, directed the disciplinary committee of the BCCI to take a decision on his quantum of punishment within the next 3 months.
Significantly, the apex court has not disturbed the findings of guilt made by the disciplinary committee against the Kerala-based cricketer.
Padmanaban Gopalan wins the Commonwealth Youth Award for the Asian Region
A social entrepreneur from Tamil Nadu, Padmanaban Gopalan, founder of No Food Waste, was named the winner of the Commonwealth Youth Award for the Asian region worth 3,000 Pounds at a ceremony at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London.
His initiative runs a geo-mapping platform, which allows users to drop food at located “hunger spots” and has so far recovered over 650,000 meals across 14 cities and the platform has been used by over 12,000 volunteers.

France to freeze all assets of Jaish-eMohammed chief Masood Azhar
France announced to freeze all assets of Pakistan based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar in application of its Monetary and Financial Code. France would also raise the issue with its European partners with a view to including Masood Azhar on the European Union list of persons, groups and entities involved in terrorist acts. The decision came after China blocked the UNSC bid to designate Azhar as global terrorist. France was one of the main initiators of the proposal. Jaish e Mohammad claimed responsibility of the Pulwama terror attack on CRPF convoy on February 14, 2019.

नरसिम्हा बीसीसीआई की स्थिति को सुनेंगे, और फिर प्रशासकों की समिति (सीओए) को सिफारिश करेंगे। नरसिंह बीसीसीआई मामले में शीर्ष अदालत की एमिकस क्यूरिया (अदालत के दोस्त) के रूप में मदद कर रहे हैं।
अदालत ने भारत की अन्य सभी अदालतों को BCCI और राज्य क्रिकेट संघों से संबंधित किसी भी मामले की सुनवाई करने से रोक दिया।

विश्व उपभोक्ता अधिकार दिवस हर साल 15 मार्च को दुनिया भर में मनाया जाता है। उपभोक्ता समूहों के लिए एक सदस्यता संगठन, उपभोक्ता इंटरनेशनल द्वारा एक पहल के हिस्से के रूप में मनाया जाता था। विश्व उपभोक्ता दिवस 2019 के लिए थीम “विश्वसनीय स्मार्ट उत्पाद” है।
विश्व उपभोक्ता अधिकार दिवस अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति जॉन एफ कैनेडी से प्रेरित था, जिन्होंने 15 मार्च 1962 को अमेरिकी कांग्रेस को एक विशेष संदेश भेजा था, जिसमें उन्होंने औपचारिक रूप से उपभोक्ता अधिकारों के मुद्दे को संबोधित किया था। ऐसा करने वाले वह पहले विश्व नेता थे।

सरकार ने एम आर कुमार को जीवन बीमा निगम (एलआईसी) का अध्यक्ष और विपिन आनंद और टी सी सुशील कुमार को प्रबंध निदेशक (एमडी) के रूप में नियुक्त किया है। LIC के कार्यकारी बोर्ड में 1 अध्यक्ष और 4 प्रबंध निदेशक होते हैं। एमआर कुमार वर्तमान में एलआईसी में दिल्ली के जोनल मैनेजर हैं।

RBI ने IDBI बैंक को निजी क्षेत्र के बैंक के रूप में वर्गीकृत किया
भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक (RBI) ने 14 मार्च, 2019 को IDBI बैंक लिमिटेड को 21 जनवरी, 2019 से नियामक उद्देश्यों के लिए निजी क्षेत्र के बैंक के रूप में वर्गीकृत किया।
यह कदम भारतीय जीवन बीमा निगम (LIC) द्वारा IDBI बैंक की कुल चुकता इक्विटी शेयर पूंजी के 51 प्रतिशत के अधिग्रहण के बाद आया है। IDBI बैंक को अप्रैल 2005 में RBI द्वारा उप-समूह ‘अन्य सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों’ में वर्गीकृत किया गया था।
भारत, पाकिस्तान करतारपुर कॉरिडोर के संचालन पर काम करने के लिए सहमत हुए
भारत और पाकिस्तान ने करतारपुर कॉरिडोर के संचालन पर तेजी से काम करने पर सहमति जताई है। कॉरिडोर (गलियारा) भारतीय तीर्थ यात्रियों को पाकिस्तान के करतारपुर में गुरुद्वारा दरबार साहिब के पवित्र मंदिर की यात्रा करने की सुविधा प्रदान करेगा।

एचयूएल के एमडी मेहता यूनिलीवर दक्षिण एशिया के राष्ट्रपति के रूप में पदोन्नत हुए
ब्रिटिश-डच उपभोक्ता सामान बनाने वाली कंपनी यूनिलीवर ने गुरुवार को कहा कि हिंदुस्तान यूनिलीवर (एचयूएल) के अध्यक्ष और प्रबंध निदेशक संजीव मेहता को यूनिलीवर दक्षिण एशिया के अध्यक्ष के रूप में पदोन्नत किया गया है। मेहता 26 साल से अधिक समय से यूनिलीवर में हैं, और उन्होंने कहा कि वह आगे भी एचयूएल का नेतृत्व करना जारी रखेंगे। कंपनी ने कहा की वह युनिलीवर लीडरशिप एग्जीक्यूटिव का हिस्सा बनेंगे।

भारत-बांग्लादेश संयुक्त सैन्य अभ्यास 2019 का समापन

SC ने श्रीसंत पर लगा आजीवन प्रतिबंध हटाया
भारत के सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने 15 मार्च, 2019 को 2013 के इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग के दौरान स्पॉट फिक्सिंग में लिप्त होने के लिए क्रिकेटर एस. श्रीसंत पर भारतीय क्रिकेट कंट्रोल बोर्ड (बीसीसीआई) द्वारा लगाए गए आजीवन प्रतिबंध को हटाया।
जस्टिस अशोक भूषण और के एम जोसेफ सहित दो न्यायाधीशों की पीठ ने फैसला सुनाया। पीठ ने श्रीसंत की अपील पर रोक लगाने की आंशिक रूप से अनुमति देते हुए बीसीसीआई की अनुशासनात्मक समिति को अगले 3 महीनों के भीतर सजा की मात्रा पर फैसला लेने का निर्देश दिया।
गौरतलब है कि शीर्ष अदालत ने केरल स्थित क्रिकेटर के खिलाफ अनुशासनात्मक समिति द्वारा किए गए अपराध के निष्कर्षों को विचलित नहीं किया है।
पद्मनाभन गोपालन ने एशियाई क्षेत्र के लिए राष्ट्रमंडल युवा पुरस्कार जीता
