1. Deepak Punia wins Junior World Championship title
Deepak Punia won the gold medal at the Junior World Championships held in Talinn, Estonia. He defeated Russia’s Alik Shebzukov to win the 86 kg junior freestyle title. With the victory, he has become the 1st Indian in 18 years to win a Junior World Championship title.
Another Indian wrestler Vicky Chahar also won the bronze medal in the 92 kg category after beating Mongolia’s Batmagnai Enkhtuvshin.
2. Chhattisgarh CM announces hike in OBC and SC quota
During Independence Day speech, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel announced reservation of 32% for STs, 13% for SCs and 27% for OBCs in state education and jobs. This leads to an overall reservation of 72%, which is 22% above the 50% limit set by Supreme Court. Previous figures stood at 32% for STs, 12% for SCs and 14% for OBCs.
3. PM to be the chairman of the Inter State Council
The Inter-State Council has been reconstituted with Prime Minister as its chairman and 6 Union ministers and all chief ministers as its members. Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the standing committee of the Inter-State Council.
The Union ministers who will be members of the reconstituted council are Amit Shah (Home), Nirmala Sitharaman (Finance), Rajnath Singh (Defence), Narendra Singh Tomar (Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj).
4. ISRO Chairman K. Sivan honoured with A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award
Tamil Nadu government has awarded K. Sivan with its Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award. K. Sivan is currently serving as the chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation.
5. India win 1st cycling gold at Junior Track Cycling WC event
The Indian team consisting of Esow Alben, L Ronaldo Singh, Y Rojit Singh and Jemsh Singh won India’s first gold at a world cycling event, after landing winning gold at the Junior Track Cycling World Championships. All four cyclists were also part of the team which won gold in men’s team sprint at the Asian Championships in Jakarta in January
6. Harshad Pandurang Thakur appointed as NIHFW’s director
Harshad Pandurang Thakur has been appointed as the director of National Institute of Health and Family Welfare. The proposal of appointment was approved by the appointments Committee of the Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister.
The NIHEW is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It acts as an apex technical institute as well as a think tank for the promotion of health and family welfare programmes in the country.

1. दीपक पुनिया ने जूनियर विश्व चैम्पियनशिप का खिताब जीता
दीपक पुनिया ने एस्टोनिया के तालिन में आयोजित जूनियर वर्ल्ड चैंपियनशिप में स्वर्ण पदक जीता। उन्होंने 86 किलोग्राम जूनियर फ्रीस्टाइल का खिताब जीतने के लिए रूस के अलिक शेज्ज़ुकोव को हराया। जीत के साथ, वह जूनियर विश्व चैम्पियनशिप का खिताब जीतने वाले 18 साल में पहले भारतीय बन गए हैं।
एक अन्य भारतीय पहलवान विक्की चाहर ने भी मंगोलिया के बेटमग्नेई एनख्तुवुशिन को हराकर 92 किलोग्राम वर्ग में कांस्य पदक जीता।
2. छत्तीसगढ़ के मुख्यमंत्री ने OBC और SC कोटे में बढ़ोतरी की घोषणा की
स्वतंत्रता दिवस के भाषण के दौरान, छत्तीसगढ़ के सीएम भूपेश बघेल ने एसटी के लिए 32%, एससी के लिए 13% और राज्य शिक्षा और नौकरियों में ओबीसी के लिए 27% आरक्षण की घोषणा की। इससे कुल आरक्षण 72% हो जाता है, जो उच्चतम न्यायालय द्वारा निर्धारित 50% की सीमा से 22% अधिक है। पिछले आंकड़े एसटी के लिए 32%, एससी के लिए 12% और ओबीसी के लिए 14% थे।
3. पीएम इंटर स्टेट काउंसिल के अध्यक्ष बनेंगें
अंतर-राज्य परिषद को इसके अध्यक्ष के रूप में और 6 केंद्रीय मंत्रियों और सभी मुख्यमंत्रियों को इसके सदस्यों के रूप में पुनर्गठित किया गया है। गृह मंत्री अमित शाह अंतर-राज्य परिषद की स्थायी समिति की अध्यक्षता करेंगे।
केंद्रीय मंत्री जो पुनर्गठित परिषद के सदस्य होंगे, वे हैं अमित शाह (गृह), निर्मला सीतारमण (वित्त), राजनाथ सिंह (रक्षा), नरेंद्र सिंह तोमर (कृषि और किसान कल्याण मंत्री, ग्रामीण विकास और पंचायती राज)।
4. इसरो के अध्यक्ष के. सिवन को ए.पी.जे. अब्दुल कलाम पुरस्कार
तमिलनाडु सरकार ने के. सिवन को डॉ. ए.पी.जे. अब्दुल कलाम पुरस्कार प्रदान किया। के. सिवन वर्तमान में भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन के अध्यक्ष के रूप में सेवारत हैं।
5. भारत ने जूनियर ट्रैक साइकलिंग WC इवेंट में प्रथम साइक्लिंग स्वर्ण जीता
जूनियर ट्रैक साइक्लिंग विश्व चैंपियनशिप में स्वर्ण पदक जीतने के बाद एसो एल्बेन, एल रोनाल्डो सिंह, वाई रोजीत सिंह और जेमेश सिंह ने विश्व साइकलिंग स्पर्धा में भारत का पहला स्वर्ण जीता। जनवरी में जकार्ता में एशियाई चैंपियनशिप में पुरुषों की टीम स्प्रिंट में स्वर्ण जीतने वाली टीम में सभी चार साइकिल चालक भी शामिल थे
6. हर्षद पांडुरंग ठाकुर को NIHFW के निदेशक के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया
हर्षद पांडुरंग ठाकुर को राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण संस्थान के निदेशक के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है। नियुक्ति के प्रस्ताव को प्रधान मंत्री की अध्यक्षता वाली कैबिनेट की नियुक्ति समिति द्वारा अनुमोदित किया गया था।
