वीरेंद्र कुमार ने लोकसभा के प्रो-टेम्प स्पीकर के रूप में शपथ ली
मध्य प्रदेश के टीकमगढ़ से सात बार के लोकसभा सांसद डॉ. वीरेंद्र कुमार लोकसभा के प्रो-टेम्प (अस्थाई) अध्यक्ष के रूप में शपथ ली। राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद ने राष्ट्रपति भवन में डॉ. कुमार को शपथ दिलाई। श्री कुमार पहली बैठक की अध्यक्षता करेंगे। वह लोकसभा के नवनिर्वाचित सांसदों को पद की शपथ दिलाएंगे। वह होगा और साथ में लोकसभा अध्यक्ष के चुनाव का कार्य भी देखेंगे।
इसरो ने भारतीय स्कूली छात्रों के लिए अपनी प्रयोगशालाएँ खोलीं
भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (ISRO) ने पहली बार इस वर्ष से भारतीय स्कूली छात्रों के लिए दो सप्ताह के प्रशिक्षण से गुजरने के लिए अपनी प्रयोगशालाएँ खोली हैं।
प्रशिक्षण मॉड्यूल को इसके नए युवा वैज्ञानिक कार्यक्रम (YUVIKA) के हिस्से के रूप में तैयार किया गया है।
नव निर्वाचित लोकसभा का पहला सत्र आज से शुरू
नव निर्वाचित लोकसभा का पहला सत्र सदस्यों को शपथ दिलाने के साथ शुरू हुआ है। प्रो-टेम स्पीकर डॉ. वीरेंद्र कुमार ने सदस्यों को शपथ दिलाई। प्रधानमंत्री और सदन के नेता नरेंद्र मोदी ने शपथ ली। शपथ लेने के बाद, मोदी ने सदस्यों के रोल पर हस्ताक्षर किए और उन्हें शुभकामनाएं दीं।
राजनाथ सिंह, अमित शाह, नितिन गडकरी, डीवी सदानंद गौड़ा, हरसिमरत कौर बादल, रविशंकर प्रसाद, संतोष गंगवार सहित कैबिनेट मंत्रियों ने लोकसभा सदस्यों के रूप में शपथ ली।
कॉम्बैट डेजर्टिफिकेशन के लिए विश्व दिवस
1994 में, संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने डेजर्टिफिकेशन मुद्दे की सार्वजनिक जागरूकता को बढ़ावा देने के लिए 17 जून को “विश्व दिवस को मुकाबला रेगिस्तान और सूखा” घोषित किया।

जम्मू और कश्मीर बैंक अब अधिक पारदर्शिता और जवाबदेही सुनिश्चित करने के लिए जम्मू और कश्मीर बैंक के निदेशक मंडल द्वारा लिए गए निर्णयों के अनुसार सूचना का अधिकार अधिनियम (RTI) और केंद्रीय सतर्कता आयोग (CVC) के दिशानिर्देशों के दायरे में आएगा।

Virendra Kumar takes oath as Pro-tem Speaker of Lok Sabha
Seven time Lok Sabha MP from Tikamgarh in Madhya Pradesh Dr Virendra Kumar took oath as Pro-tem Speaker of the Lok Sabha. President Ram Nath Kovind administered oath to Dr Kumar at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Mr Kumar will preside over the first sitting of the Lok Sabha and administer the oath of office to the newly elected Lok Sabha MPs. He will also oversee the election of the Lok Sabha Speaker.
ISRO opens its laboratories for Indian school students
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has, for the first time, opened its laboratories for Indian school students to undergo two-week training from this year.
The training module has been devised as part of its new Young Scientists Programme, or Yuva Vigyanik Karyakram (YUVIKA).
First session of newly elected Lok Sabha begins today
The first session of the newly elected Lok Sabha has begun with administering of oath to the Members. Pro-Tem speaker Dr. Virendra Kumar administered the oath to the members. Prime Minister and Leader of the House Narendra Modi took the oath. After taking the oath, Modi signed the roll of Members and greeted them.
Cabinet Ministers including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, DV Sadananda Gowda, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Santosh Gangwar among others took the oath as Members of the Lok Sabha.
World Day to Combat Desertification
In 1994, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 17 the “World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought” to promote public awareness of the issue.
The World Day to Combat Desertification is a unique occasion to remind everybody that desertification can be effectively tackled, that solutions are possible, and that key tools to this aim lay in strengthened community participation and co-operation at all levels.
The slogan for World Day to Combat Desertification 2019 is: Let’s grow the future together! India will host the 14th session of Conference of Parties (COP-14) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), from 7 to 18 October 2019, in New Delhi.
Guatemala votes for new president amid tensions over violence, migration
Guatemala, a Central American Country, on Sunday began voting for a new president, who will face the challenge of curbing drug gang violence that has convulsed the country and helped spur illegal immigration to the United States, fuelling tensions with President Donald Trump.
Nineteen candidates are competing in the election, which is expected to yield no outright winner, forcing the top two contenders to face off in a second round on 11th August. Former first lady Sandra Torres, of the center-left UNE party, has led the race to succeed President Jimmy Morales.
