  1. 1,550-cr infra projects inaugurated in Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched projects worth over 1,550 cr for Odisha on Tuesday last. Electrification of the Jharsuguda-Vizianagaram and Sambalpur-Angul lines spanning 813 km was completed at a cost of

1,085 crore. Doubling of the 14.2-km Barpali-Dungaripali and 17.354-km Balangir-Deogaon railway lines was done at a cost of 189.3 crore. A Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Jharsuguda, built at a cost of 100 crore, was also dedicated to the nation by the prime minister. Further, Modi inaugurated the 15-km Balangir-Bichhupali railway line, laid at a cost of 115 crore.

  1. Adani inks JV with BASF worth 516k-cr for petrochemical plant

The Gautam Adani-run Adani Group will partner German chemical giant BASF to foray into the petrochemicals sector with a 16,000-crore factory at Mundra in Gujarat. Besides investing in the chemical factory, BASF would invest in a wind and solar power plant at the site to meet the power requirements of the unit, the two companies said in a statement. BASF will hold a majority controlling stake in the new venture. It will, however, hold a minority interest in the power venture. BASF SE and Adani Group had signed an MoU on the eve of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2019 “to evaluate a major joint investment in the acrylics value chain”, they said. This would be BASF’s largest investment in India to date, the company said.
