  1. Urjit Patel appointed as Chairman of economic think tank NIPFP

Finance and Policy (NIPFP), an economic think tank appoint Urjit Patel as a chairman for a period of four years. He will be replacing the outgoing chairman Vijay Kelkar.

Urjit Patel has earlier served as the Governor as well as the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). He resigned as the Governor of RBI in December 2018.

  1. India to become UNSC President for August, 2021

India has been elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and will serve as the President of the UN body for the month of August, 2021. According to the rules, the presidency of the United Nations Security Council is held by each of the members in turn for one month as per the English alphabetical order of names of the member states.

According to the rules, India will assume the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the month of the August 2021. India, Norway, Ireland, Kenya and Mexico were recently elected as the non-permanent members of the council. These countries have been elected for a two-year term which will begin from 1st January, 2021.

  1. RIL reaches $150-billion market valuation mark

The Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has reached $150billion mark in term of market capitalisation. Hence, the Mukesh Ambani-helmed RIL has become India’s first $150-billion company in terms of market capitalisation. RIL achieved this milestone when its share price had gained 6.23% to close at Rs 1,759, taking its market capitalisation to Rs 11.15 lakh crore i.e. around $150 billion.

With this achievement, the market capitalisation of Reliance Industries Limited is more than that of Total SA, Royal Dutch Shell and BP among the top global energy players.

JSW Cement has signed Sourav Ganguly and Sunil Chhetri as its brand ambassadors. The cement brand has also launched a new multi-media marketing campaign “Leader’s Choice” which includes both sports icons. The multi-media marketing campaign “Leader’s Choice” of JSW Cement promotes the ideology of building a solid foundation for a better tomorrow.

Sourav Ganguly is the former Indian cricketer and captain of the Indian Cricket team. He is presently serving as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Sunil Chhetri is the captain of the Indian national football team and Bengaluru FC.

  1. Union Minister launches R&D Portal “SATYABHAMA”

Union Minister for Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi has launched R&D Portal “Science and Technology Yojana for Aatmanirbhar Bharat in Mining Advancement (SATYABHAMA)”. The portal has been launched for Science and Technology Programme Scheme of Ministry of Mines. The newly launched portal will increase efficiency as well as effectiveness in the implementation of the Scheme as it allows online submission of project proposals along with monitoring of the projects and utilization of funds/grants.

The R&D Portal SATYABHAMA has been designed, developed and implemented by National Informatics Centre (NIC), Mines Informatics Division. It has been integrated with NGO Darpan Portal of NITI Aayog. It also accepts the researchers’ progress reports and Final Technical Reports of the projects in the electronic format.

  1. Veteran economist & FC memeber B.P.R. Vithal passes away

Veteran economist and the member of 10th Finance Commission, B.P.R. Vithal passes away. He was a former IAS officer of the 1950 batch. He also served as the Secretary, Finance and Planning, government of Andhra Pradesh, from 1972 to 1982.

B.P.R. Vithal also worked at the International Monetary Fund as the fiscal adviser to the governments of Malawi and Sudan. He also played an instrumental role in the establishment of Centre for Economic and Social Studies, Hyderabad.

  1. उर्जित पटेल को आर्थिक थिंक टैंक NIPFP के अध्यक्ष के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया

वित्त और नीति (एनआईपीएफपी), एक आर्थिक थिंक टैंक उर्जित पटेल को चार साल की अवधि के लिए अध्यक्ष के रूप में नियुक्त करता है। वह निवर्तमान अध्यक्ष विजय केलकर की जगह लेंगे।

उर्जित पटेल इससे पहले भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) के गवर्नर साथ-साथ डिप्टी गवर्नर भी रह चुके हैं। उन्होंने दिसंबर 2018 में RBI के गवर्नर के पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया।

  1. अगस्त, 2021 के लिए UNSC अध्यक्ष बनने वाला भारत

भारत को संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद के एक गैर-स्थायी सदस्य के रूप में चुना गया है और अगस्त 2021 के महीने के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र निकाय के अध्यक्ष के रूप में काम करेगा। नियमों के अनुसार, संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद के अध्यक्ष द्वारा आयोजित किया जाता है। सदस्य राज्यों के नामों के अंग्रेजी वर्णानुक्रम के अनुसार प्रत्येक सदस्य एक महीने के लिए बारी-बारी से।

नियमों के अनुसार, भारत अगस्त 2021 के महीने के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद की घूर्णन अध्यक्षता करेगा। भारत, नॉर्वे, आयरलैंड, केन्या और मैक्सिको को हाल ही में परिषद के गैर-सदस्यीय सदस्य के रूप में चुना गया था। इन देशों को दो साल के कार्यकाल के लिए चुना गया है जो 1 जनवरी, 2021 से शुरू होगा।

  1. गांगुली और छेत्री ने JSW सीमेंट के ब्रांड एंबेसडर के रूप में हस्ताक्षर किए

जेएसडब्ल्यू सीमेंट ने सौरव गांगुली और सुनील छेत्री को अपना ब्रांड एंबेसडर बनाया है। सीमेंट ब्रांड ने एक नया मल्टी-मीडिया मार्केटिंग अभियान “लीडर्स चॉइस” भी शुरू किया है, जिसमें दोनों स्पोर्ट्स आइकन शामिल हैं। जेएसडब्ल्यू सीमेंट के मल्टी-मीडिया मार्केटिंग अभियान “लीडर्स चॉइस” एक बेहतर कल के लिए एक ठोस आधार बनाने की विचारधारा को बढ़ावा देता है।

  1. केंद्रीय मंत्री ने R & D पोर्टल “SATYABHAMA” लॉन्च किया

केंद्रीय कोयला, खान और संसदीय मामलों के मंत्री, प्रहलाद जोशी ने खनन अग्रिम (SATYABHAMA) में Aatmanirbhar Bharat के लिए R&D पोर्टल “विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी योजना” शुरू की है। पोर्टल को खान मंत्रालय के विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी कार्यक्रम योजना के लिए लॉन्च किया गया है। नए लॉन्च किए गए पोर्टल से योजना के क्रियान्वयन में दक्षता बढ़ेगी और साथ ही यह परियोजनाओं की ऑनलाइन निगरानी और धन / अनुदान के उपयोग के साथ परियोजना प्रस्तावों को ऑनलाइन जमा करने की अनुमति देगा।

R&D पोर्टल SATYABHAMA को राष्ट्रीय सूचना विज्ञान केंद्र (NIC), माइन्स इंफोर्मेशन डिवीजन द्वारा डिजाइन, विकसित और कार्यान्वित किया गया है। इसे NITI Aayog के NGO Darpan पोर्टल के साथ एकीकृत किया गया है। यह इलेक्ट्रॉनिक प्रारूप में शोधकर्ताओं की प्रगति रिपोर्ट और परियोजनाओं की अंतिम तकनीकी रिपोर्ट को भी स्वीकार करता है।

  1. वयोवृद्ध अर्थशास्त्री और एफसी मेमोरियल B.P.R. विट्ठल का निधन

वयोवृद्ध अर्थशास्त्री और 10 वें वित्त आयोग के सदस्य, B.P.R. विट्ठल का निधन। वह 1950 बैच के पूर्व आईएएस अधिकारी थे। उन्होंने 1972 से 1982 तक आंध्र प्रदेश सरकार के सचिव, वित्त और योजना के रूप में भी कार्य किया।

B.P.R. विट्ठल ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मुद्रा कोष में मलावी और सूडान की सरकारों के राजकोषीय सलाहकार के रूप में भी काम किया। उन्होंने सेंटर फॉर इकोनॉमिक एंड सोशल स्टडीज, हैदराबाद की स्थापना में भी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई।
