  1. World Music Day observed on 21st June

World Music Day is observed globally on 21st June every year. This day is celebrated to honour amateur and professional musicians. Over 120 countries celebration World Music Day by organizing free public concerts in parks, streets, stations, museums and other such public places. The aim of celebrating World Music Day is to provide free music to everyone, and also to encourage amateur musicians to showcase their work to the world.

World Music Day was founded by France’s Minister of Culture, Jack Lang and also Maurice Fleuret, a French composer, music journalist, radio producer, arts administrator, and festival organiser, on the day of the summer solstice in Paris in 1982.

  1. EXIM Bank extends LOC of USD 20.10 million to government of Nicaragua

A Line of Credit (LOC) of USD 20.10 million has been extended by the Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank) on behalf of the Government of India, to the Government of the Republic of Nicaragua. This LOC has been extended for reconstruction of Aldo Chavarria Hospital in the Republic of Nicaragua.

With the signing of the above LOC Agreement for reconstruction of hospital, the total number of LOCs extended by EXIM Bank to the Republic of Nicaragua comes to four, comprising projects which includes supply of equipment for building two substations, construction of transmission lines, building new substation, expansion of the existing substations and reconstruction of a hospital. The total value of the 4 LOCs is USD 87.63 million.

  1. Padma Shri awardee Vidyaben Shah passes away

Padma Shri awardee and a social worker Vidyaben Shah passed away recently. She was a pioneer in the field of child welfare as she created the the first Bal Bhavan in Rajkot in the 1940s. She also set up the Mahatma Gandhi Sanskritik Kendra in the 1970s to facilitate the cultural exchange among city residents.

Vidyaben Shah was awarded with the National Award for outstanding services in the field of child welfare, followed by Padma Shri award in 1992. She also became the first non-official to head the New Delhi Municipal Council in the 1970s.

  1. India attends 32nd virtual EAG plenary meet

The virtual 32nd special Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (EAG) plenary meeting was attended by the Indian officials including the representatives from enforcement agencies. The meeting was held under the aegis of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

The Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (EAG) is a nine member regional body. The nine member countries of EAG are: India, Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The body is an associate member of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

  1. NITI Aayog forms panel to develop job platform for migrant labourers

NITI Aayog has formed a panel to develop a job platform for migrant labourers. Through this panel, NITI Aayog includes top officials of tech companies like Google, Microsoft and Tech Mahindra. This platform helps migrant workers have lost their jobs during the lockdown period. The main aim is to develop a platform that can help bluecollar workers find job opportunities in their own language and location.

The platform will connect job seekers, employers, government agencies, skill centres and external partners using new-age technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning. The project would come up with a multilingual application that can be accessed via feature phones and help identify location-based jobs, skill development gaps.

  1. U.S. Senate appoints Sethuraman Panchanathan as head of NSF

The U.S. Senate has appointed Indian-American scientist Dr Sethuraman Panchanathan as the Director of the National Science Foundation (NSF). He will replace France Cordova, whose six-year term ended in March, as the 15th director of the NSF. He is expected to take office on July 6.

Panchanathan is the second Indian-American ever to be nominated to the prestigious science position with the first being Dr Subra Suresh who served from October 2010 to March 2013. National Science Foundation is a top American body supporting fundamental research in nonmedical fields of science and engineering.

  1. International Day of the Celebration of the Solstice observed on 21 June

International Day of the Celebration of the Solstice is observed globally on 21st June. This day bring awareness about solstices and equinoxes and their significance for several religions and ethnic cultures. The International Day of the Celebration of the Solstice was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly on 20th June 2019 within the Resolution A/RES/73/300.

  1. 21 जून को विश्व संगीत दिवस मनाया गया

विश्व संगीत दिवस हर साल 21 जून को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया जाता है। यह दिन शौकिया और पेशेवर संगीतकारों को सम्मानित करने के लिए मनाया जाता है। 120 से अधिक देशों ने पार्क, सड़कों, स्टेशनों, संग्रहालयों और ऐसे अन्य सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर मुफ्त सार्वजनिक समारोहों का आयोजन करके विश्व संगीत दिवस मनाया। विश्व संगीत दिवस मनाने का उद्देश्य सभी को मुफ्त संगीत प्रदान करना है, और शौकिया संगीतकारों को दुनिया में अपने काम का प्रदर्शन करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करना भी है।

1982 में पेरिस में ग्रीष्मकालीन संक्रांति के दिन फ्रांस के संस्कृति मंत्री जैक लैंग और Maurice Fleuret, एक फ्रांसीसी संगीतकार, संगीत पत्रकार, रेडियो निर्माता, कला प्रशासक द्वारा स्थापित किया गया था।

  1. एक्सिम (EXIM) बैंक ने निकारागुआ की सरकार को $20.10 मिलियन की लाइन ऑफ क्रेडिट (LOC) प्रदान की

अस्पताल के पुनर्निर्माण के लिए उपरोक्त LOC समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर के साथ, EXIM बैंक द्वारा निकारागुआ गणराज्य में विस्तारित LOC की कुल संख्या चार है, जिसमें ऐसी परियोजनाएँ शामिल हैं जिनमें दो सबस्टेशनों के निर्माण के लिए उपकरणों की आपूर्ति, ट्रांसमिशन लाइनों का निर्माण, नया निर्माण शामिल है। सबस्टेशन, मौजूदा सबस्टेशनों का विस्तार और एक अस्पताल का पुनर्निर्माण। 4 LOCs का कुल मूल्य 87.63 मिलियन अमरीकी डालर है।

  1. पद्म श्री से सम्मानित विद्याबेन शाह का निधन

पद्म श्री पुरस्कार से सम्मानित और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता विद्याबेन शाह का हाल ही में निधन हो गया। वह बाल कल्याण के क्षेत्र में अग्रणी थीं क्योंकि उन्होंने 1940 के दशक में राजकोट में पहला बाल भवन बनाया था। उन्होंने शहरवासियों के बीच सांस्कृतिक आदान-प्रदान को सुविधाजनक बनाने के लिए 1970 के दशक में महात्मा गांधी संस्कृत केंद्र की स्थापना की।

विद्याबेन शाह को बाल कल्याण के क्षेत्र में उत्कृष्ट सेवाओं के लिए राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया, इसके बाद 1992 में पद्म श्री पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया। वह 1970 के दशक में नई दिल्ली नगरपालिका परिषद की प्रमुख पहली गैर-सरकारी अधिकारी भी बनीं।

  1. भारत 32 वें वर्चुअल ईएजी प्लेनरी मीट में शामिल हुआ

मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग और आतंकवाद के वित्तपोषण पर यूरेशियन के आभासी 32 वें विशेष यूरेशियन समूह (EAG) पूर्ण बैठक में भारतीय अधिकारियों ने प्रवर्तन एजेंसियों के प्रतिनिधियों सहित भाग लिया। बैठक फाइनेंशियल एक्शन टास्क फोर्स (एफएटीएफ) के तत्वावधान में आयोजित की गई थी।

मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग और आतंकवाद के वित्तपोषण पर यूरेशियन समूह (ईएजी) एक नौ सदस्यीय क्षेत्रीय निकाय है। ईएजी के नौ सदस्य देश हैं: भारत, रूस, चीन, कजाकिस्तान, तुर्कमेनिस्तान, उजबेकिस्तान, बेलारूस, किर्गिस्तान और ताजिकिस्तान। निकाय फाइनेंशियल एक्शन टास्क फोर्स (FATF) का एक सहयोगी सदस्य है।

संक्रांति के जश्न का अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस 21 जून को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया जाता है। यह दिन कई धर्मों और जातीय संस्कृतियों के लिए संक्रांति और विषुव और उनके महत्व के बारे में जागरूकता लाता है। संक्रांति के जश्न का अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा द्वारा 20 जून 2019 को संकल्प A/RES/73/300 के भीतर घोषित किया गया था।
