  1. Jawed Ashraf becomes India’s next Ambassador to France

Jawed Ashraf has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to France. He is presently High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Singapore. He was a 1991 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer. He will succeed Vinay Mohan Kwatra. Vinay Mohan Kwatra will become the next Ambassador of India to Nepal, he will succeed Manjeev Singh Puri. Vinay Mohan Kwatra was a 1988 batch IFS officer.

  1. RAISE 2020 Summit to be held in New Delhi

The Government of India (GoI) announced the mega event, RAISE 2020- ‘Responsible Al for Social Empowerment 2020 to be held from April 11-12 in New Delhi. RAISE 2020 is India’s first Artificial Intelligence summit to be organized by the Government in partnership with Industry & Academia.

The summit will be attended by experts of Artificial Intelligence from all over the world. It will focus on using AI towards social empowerment, transformation and inclusion and also in other key areas such as agriculture, healthcare, smart mobility and education. It is essential to implement AI in social transformation as it will help in bringing regulatory changes. It will improve the efficiency of workplaces.

  1. World NGO Day observed globally on 27 February

World NGO Day was observed globally on 27 February. The day aims to raise awareness about the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) sector. The day is observed every year to encourage people worldwide who are involved and dedicatedly working for a good cause. The day highlights the achievements and success of NGOs from all the sectors across the globe. The day makes people understand the role of NGOs in society.

History of NGO Day

The observation of World NGO Day was founded in 2009 by Law student Marcis Liors Skadmanis. The observation of the day was officially declared by 12 countries on 17 April 2010. It was internationally recognized on 27 February 2014 by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

  1. Bhubaneswar to host 24th Meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council

The 24th Meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council will be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The Meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council will be chaired by the Union Minister for Home Affairs, Shri Amit Shah. Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha will be the Vice-Chairman and host of the meeting. The meeting will feature the participation of the States of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. The participating states will discuss various issues including power transmission lines, investigation of heinous offences, inter-State water issues, petroleum projects and various other issues. The above issues are expected to be resolved by consensus in the meeting.

The 23rd Meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council was held in Kolkata, West Bengal.

  1. Rajesh Kumar becomes new MD & CEO of CIBIL

TransUnion Cibil, the largest credit information bureau appointed Rajesh Kumar of HDFC Bank as its new managing director and chief executive. He will succeeds Satish Pillai who has moved to become the president of Asia region business of the US-based company. Prior to joining Cibil, Kumar was the group head for retail credit and risk at HDFC Bank. He will be responsible for steering Cibil India’s business into the next phase by ensuring it continues to support the domestic finance industry and consumers.

  1. Maria Sharapova announces retirement from tennis

Five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova has announced her retirement from tennis. The Russian won her first Grand Slam at Wimbledon in 2004 aged 17 and completed the career slam, all four major titles, by winning the French Open in 2012. She became world number one in 2005 and won the US Open the next year. she won the 2004 WTA Tour Championships, the 2008 Fed Cup and a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

In 2016, she served a 15-month ban after testing positive for meldonium. After returning from her ban in 2017, Sharapova struggled to recapture her best form and suffered from a number of injuries. She has dropped to 373 in the world, her lowest ranking since August 2002, and has lost in the first round of her past three Grand Slam tournaments.

  1. India-UK joint Air Force Exercise Indra Dhanush Exercise 2020 began

The 5th edition of the Exercise Indra Dhanush- 2020 commenced on 24th February. It is a joint air force exercise between Indian Air Force (IAF) and British Royal Air Forces (RAF) has commenced at Air Force Station Hindan in Uttar Pradesh (UP).

‘Base Defence and Force Protection’ was the focus of this year exercise. 36 specialised combatants from RAF Regiment & 42 combatants of the GARUD Force from IAF team participated in this exercise with para drops from C130J aircraft, tactical insertions by Mi-17 V5 helicopters and use of various airborne sensors.

During the exercise, both the elements of the air force will share and jointly validate strategies and tactics to tackle terror threats to their installations. Both the forces also to take up various missions including Airfield Seizure, Base Defence and anti-terror operations in Urban built-up zones.

  1. RBI allows Bandhan Bank to open new branches without prior permission

The Reserve bank of India (RBI) removes the restrictions placed on Bandhan Bank, allowing it to open new branches without prior permission. The RBI came up with some regulatory conditions & directed the bank to order about 25% of the total banking outlets to be opened in rural areas where banking facilities are not available.

Bandhan Bank was banned from opening a new branch on September 28, 2018, on behalf of the Supreme Court (SC) and the court ordered to freeze the salary of Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, the founder-cum managing director (MD) of the bank, after not fulfilling the shareholding rules. As per the RBI Licensing Guideline, Bandhan Financial Holdings Ltd, the bank promoter was to reduce the company’s share from 82 % to 40 % in 3 years. The deadline for the Bank was August 23, 2019, which it failed to meet.

  1. जावेद अशरफ फ्रांस में भारत के अगले राजदूत बने

जावेद अशरफ को फ्रांस में भारत के अगले राजदूत के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है। वह वर्तमान में सिंगापुर गणराज्य में भारत के उच्चायुक्त हैं। वह 1991 बैच के भारतीय विदेश सेवा (IFS) अधिकारी हैं। वह विनय मोहन क्वात्रा की जगह लेंगे। विनय मोहन क्वात्रा नेपाल में भारत के अगले राजदूत बनेंगे, वे मनोज सिंह पुरी का स्थान लेंगे। विनय मोहन क्वात्रा 1988 बैच के IFS अधिकारी हैं।

  1. RAISE 2020 शिखर सम्मेलन नई दिल्ली में आयोजित होगा

भारत सरकार (GoI) ने मेगा इवेंट, RAISE 2020 की घोषणा की- ‘नई दिल्ली में 11-12 अप्रैल को होने वाली RAISE 2020- ‘Responsible Al for Social Empowerment 2020 उद्योग और शिक्षा के साथ साझेदारी में सरकार द्वारा आयोजित किया जाने वाला भारत का पहला AI शिखर सम्मेलन है।

शिखर सम्मेलन में दुनिया भर से आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस के विशेषज्ञ भाग लेंगे। यह सामाजिक सशक्तिकरण, परिवर्तन और समावेश की दिशा में AI का उपयोग करने और कृषि, स्वास्थ्य सेवा, स्मार्ट गतिशीलता और शिक्षा जैसे अन्य प्रमुख क्षेत्रों में ध्यान केंद्रित करेगा। सामाजिक परिवर्तन में अल को लागू करना आवश्यक है क्योंकि यह नियामक परिवर्तनों को लाने में मदद करेगा। यह कार्यस्थलों की दक्षता में सुधार करेगा।

  1. विश्व गैर सरकारी संगठन दिवस 27 फरवरी को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया गया

27 फरवरी को विश्व एनजीओ दिवस विश्व स्तर पर मनाया गया। दिन का उद्देश्य गैर–सरकारी संगठन (एनजीओ) क्षेत्र के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाना है। दुनिया भर के लोगों को प्रोत्साहित करने और समर्पित रूप से अच्छे काम के लिए काम करने के लिए यह दिवस हर साल मनाया जाता है। यह दिन दुनिया भर के सभी क्षेत्रों से गैर सरकारी संगठनों की उपलब्धियों और सफलता पर प्रकाश डालता है। यह दिन समाज में गैर-सरकारी संगठनों की भूमिका को समझता है।

विश्व एनजीओ दिवस के अवलोकन की स्थापना 2009 में लॉ स्टूडेंट मार्किस लियर्स स्काडमैनिस ने की थी। दिन का अवलोकन 17 अप्रैल 2010 को 12 देशों द्वारा आधिकारिक रूप से घोषित किया गया था। इसे संयुक्त राष्ट्र विकास कार्यक्रम (यूएनडीपी) द्वारा 27 फरवरी 2014 को अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर मान्यता दी गई थी।

  1. पूर्वी जोनल काउंसिल की 24 वीं बैठक भुवनेश्वर में आयोजित होगी

ईस्टर्न जोनल काउंसिल की 24 वीं बैठक भुवनेश्वर, ओडिशा में होगी। पूर्वी आंचलिक परिषद की बैठक की अध्यक्षता केंद्रीय गृह राज्य मंत्री श्री अमित शाह करेंगे। ओडिशा के मुख्यमंत्री नवीन पटनायक बैठक के उपाध्यक्ष और मेजबान होंगे। बैठक में बिहार, झारखंड, ओडिशा और पश्चिम बंगाल राज्यों की भागीदारी होगी। भाग लेने वाले राज्य बिजली ट्रांसमिशन लाइनों, जघन्य अपराधों की जांच, अंतर-राज्यीय जल मुद्दों, पेट्रोलियम परियोजनाओं और विभिन्न अन्य मुद्दों सहित विभिन्न मुद्दों पर चर्चा करेंगे। बैठक में सर्वसम्मति से उपरोक्त मुद्दों को हल किए जाने की उम्मीद है।

पूर्वी जोनल काउंसिल की 23 वीं बैठक कोलकाता, पश्चिम बंगाल में आयोजित की गई थी।

TransUnion Cibil, सबसे बड़ी क्रेडिट सूचना ब्यूरो ने HDFC बैंक के राजेश कुमार को अपना नया प्रबंध निदेशक और मुख्य कार्यकारी नियुक्त किया। वह सतीश पिल्लई की जगह लेंगे जो अमेरिका स्थित कंपनी के एशिया क्षेत्र के व्यवसाय का अध्यक्ष बनेंगे। सिबिल में शामिल होने से पहले, कुमार एचडीएफसी बैंक में खुदरा ऋण और जोखिम के लिए समूह प्रमुख थे। वह यह सुनिश्चित करके कि अगले वित्त चरण में घरेलू वित्त उद्योग और उपभोक्ताओं का समर्थन जारी है, सिबिल इंडिया के कारोबार को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए जिम्मेदार होगा।

पांच बार की ग्रैंड स्लैम चैंपियन मारिया शारापोवा ने टेनिस से संन्यास की घोषणा कर दी है। रूसी ने 2004 में 17 साल की उम्र में विंबलडन में अपना पहला ग्रैंड स्लैम जीता और 2012 में फ्रेंच ओपन जीतकर करियर के सभी चार प्रमुख खिताबों को पूरा किया। वह 2005 में विश्व की नंबर एक बनी और अगले वर्ष यूएस ओपन जीता। उसने 2004 डब्ल्यूटीए टूर चैंपियनशिप, 2008 फेड कप और 2012 लंदन ओलंपिक में रजत पदक जीता।

  1. भारत–ब्रिटेन संयुक्त वायु सेना अभ्यास इंद्र धनुष अभ्यास- 2020 शुरू हुआ

भारत और ब्रिटेन के बिच होने वाले संयुक्त वायु सेना अभ्यास का 5 वाँ संस्करण इंद्र धनुष- 2020 24 फरवरी को शुरू हुआ। यह भारतीय वायु सेना (IAF) और ब्रिटिश रॉयल एयर फोर्स (RAF) के बीच एक संयुक्त वायुसेना अभ्यास है, जो उत्तर प्रदेश (यूपी) में वायु सेना स्टेशन हिंडन में शुरू हुआ है।

‘बेस डिफेंस एंड फोर्स प्रोटेक्शन’ इस साल की कवायद का फोकस था। RAF रेजिमेंट के 36 विशेष लड़ाकों और IAF टीम के GARUD फोर्स के 42 लड़ाकों ने इस अभ्यास में भाग लिया जिसमें C130J विमान से पैरा ड्रॉप्स, Mi-17 V5 हेलीकॉप्टरों द्वारा सामरिक सम्मिलन और विभिन्न सेंसर का उपयोग किया गया।

अभ्यास के दौरान, वायु सेना के दोनों तत्व साझा रूप से रणनीति और रणनीति को मान्य करेंगे और अपने प्रतिष्ठानों पर आतंकी खतरों से निपटने के लिए रणनीति बनाएंगे। दोनों सेनाएँ अर्बन बिल्ट-अप ज़ोन में एयरफ़ील्ड सीज़्योर, बेस डिफेंस और आतंक-रोधी अभियानों सहित विभिन्न अभियानों को भी अंजाम देना चाहती हैं।

  1. RBI ने बिना किसी पूर्व अनुमति के बंधन बैंक को नई शाखाएं खोलने की अनुमति दी

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) ने बंधन बैंक पर लगाए गए प्रतिबंधों को हटा दिया, जिससे वह बिना पूर्व अनुमति के नई शाखाएं खोल सकता है। RBI ने कुछ नियामक शर्तों के साथ बैंक को निर्देश दिया कि वह कुल बैंकिंग आउटलेट्स का लगभग 25% ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में खोलने का आदेश दे जहाँ बैंकिंग सुविधाएं उपलब्ध नहीं हैं।

बंधन बैंक को सुप्रीम कोर्ट (SC) की ओर से 28 सितंबर, 2018 को एक नई शाखा खोलने पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया गया था और अदालत ने शेयरिंग नियमों को पूरा नहीं करने के कारण बैंक के संस्थापक–सह प्रबंध निदेशक (एमडी) चंद्रशेखर घोष के वेतन को फ्रीज़ करने का आदेश दिया था। आरबीआई लाइसेंसिंग गाइडलाइन के अनुसार, बंधन फाइनेंशियल होल्डिंग्स लिमिटेड, बैंक प्रमोटर को 3 साल में कंपनी के शेयर को 82% से घटाकर 40% करना था। बैंक के लिए समय सीमा 23 अगस्त, 2019 थी, जिसे पूरा करने में वह असफल रहा।
