Nitin Gadkari inaugurates tunnel under Chardham Pariyojana in Chamba
Union Minister for Road Transport, Nitin Gadkari has inaugurated the 440 metre-long tunnel as part of the Chardham Connectivity Project in Chamba. The tunnel will significantly reduce the time taken by travellers on the Rishikesh-Dharasu and Gangotri stretch of the Chardham Highway (NH 94).
Under the Chardham Project costing around 12 thousand crore rupees approximately 889 Kilometres of Highway Construction is to be done. BRO has been entrusted for construction of 250 Kilometre-stretch leading to holy shrine Gangotri and Badrinath. The tunnel has been developed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
IBM scientist Rajiv Joshi wins NYIPLA Inventor of the year Award 2020
Indian-American IBM scientist, Rajiv Joshi has won the prestigious NYIPLA “Inventor of the Year award” for the year 2020. This award is given for his contribution to advancing the electronic industry and improving artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
Dr Joshi works at the IBM Thomson Watson Research Center in New York. This award is presented by the New York Intellectual Property Law Association (NYIPLA). The inventor of the year is awarded every year to honour the contribution of an inventor towards society and the winner will be awarded $5,000.
LIC launches “PM Vaya Vandana Yojana” for senior citizens
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has announced the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana, which is a social security scheme for senior citizens. This plan starts from May 26 for three financial years up to March 31, 2023. LIC is solely authorised to work this scheme, which works as a Non-Linked, NonParticipating, Pension Scheme subsidised by the Centre.
The policy term is of 10 years and for policies sold during the first financial year up to March 31, 2021, the scheme will provide an assured rate of return of 7.40 per cent once a year payable monthly (which is like 7.66 per cent per annum) for the whole duration of 10 years.
Major Suman Gawani to be honoured with UN Military Gender Advocate Award
Indian Army officer Major Suman Gawani is going to be awarded the UN Military Gender Advocate of the Year 2019. This will be the first time that an Indian Peace Guard will be awarded this award. Major Suman was stationed in South Sudan under the United Nations Mission. Recently she has completed her mission. Gawani joined the Indian Army in 2011 where she graduated from the Officers Training Academy, then joined the Army Signal Corps. She hails from Pokhar village in Tehri Garwhal, Uttarakhand.
The award is going to be presented to Major Suman Gawani and Brazilian military officer Commander Carla Monteiro de Castro Araujo during a web ceremony chaired by UN Secretary-General Guterres on May 29, the International Day of the United Nations Peacekeepers. These two women peacekeepers were described as “powerful role models” by the UN Chief Antonio Guterres.
Classical musician Shyamala Bhave passes away
Classical musician Shyamala G. Bhave passed away. She was having an equal command over Hindustani as well as Carnatic music. She had also composed music in India’s first Sanskrit serial titled “Kadambari”. She had also served at the Karnataka Sangeeta Nrithya Academy from 1997 to 2001.
The renowned vocalist was honoured with title of “Ubhaya Gaana Vidushi (expert in both styles)” and also composed music for some films, including the first Sanskrit film “Adi Shankaracharya”. She was also the recipient of Karnataka Rajyotsava Award.
PK Nair becomes new Indian Ambassador to Niger
The government of India has announced the appointment of Prem K Nair as Indian Ambassador to the Republic of Niger. He is currently posted as Consul General of India to Hambantota. He is expected to take up the assignment shortly. He will replace Rajesh Agarwal.
WHO & IOC team up to improve health through sport
The World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has signed an agreement to work together to promote health through sport and physical activity. They have teamed up to fight the battle against Covid-19.
The partnership is to work with host countries to ensure Health of athletes, supporters and workers at the games. The two organisation will also work to ensure that the games leave a healthy legacy in host countries through enhanced awareness of the value of sport.
Manipur’s “Khudol” listed among the top 10 global initiatives
Manipur’s “Khudol” has been listed among the top 10 global initiatives for an inclusive fight against the COVID19 pandemic. The listing of the initiative among the top 10 global initiatives was done by the United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth. “Khudol” initiative was launched by an Imphal-based NGO “Ya_All”.
Food, health and hygiene requirements of the LGBTQI+ community, people living with HIV, daily-wage earners, children and adolescents is being ensured through the initiative “Khudol”. It is a crowdfunded initiative which has mobilised a network of 100 volunteers, to fulfill basic needs of around 2,000 families and individuals.
Indian Navy formed “NavRakshak” breathable PPE kit
Indian Navy has formed “NavRakshak” PPE kit with innovative breathable fabric material. This PPE kit provides comfort to healthcare workers working against COVID-19 pandemic wearing multi-layered coverall PPE treating patients within the hot and humid condition for quite 12 hours.
The ability of the material to permit water vapour to undergo and stop the water from entering is understood as Breathability. This PPE kit made by Surgeon Lieutenant Commander Arnab Ghosh from Naval Medical Specialist of Innovation Cell, Institute of Naval Medicine in Mumbai.

नितिन गडकरी ने चंबा में चारधाम परियोजन के तहत सुरंग का उद्घाटन किया
केंद्रीय सड़क परिवहन मंत्री, नितिन गडकरी ने चंबा में चारधाम संपर्क परियोजना के हिस्से के रूप में 440 मीटर लंबी सुरंग का उद्घाटन किया है। सुरंग चारधाम राजमार्ग (NH 94) के ऋषिकेश-धरासू और गंगोत्री खंड पर यात्रियों द्वारा लगने वाले समय को काफी कम कर देगी।
चारधाम परियोजना के तहत राजमार्ग निर्माण का लगभग 889 किलोमीटर का लगभग 12 हजार करोड़ रुपये का खर्च किया जाना है। बीआरओ को पवित्र तीर्थ गंगोत्री और बद्रीनाथ की ओर जाने वाले 250 किलोमीटर-खिंचाव के निर्माण के लिए सौंपा गया है। सुरंग को सीमा सड़क संगठन (BRO) द्वारा विकसित किया गया है।
आईबीएम के वैज्ञानिक राजीव जोशी ने वर्ष 2020 का NYIPLA पुरस्कार जीता
भारतीय-अमेरिकी आईबीएम वैज्ञानिक, राजीव जोशी ने वर्ष 2020 के लिए प्रतिष्ठित NYIPLA “इन्वेंटर ऑफ द ईयर अवार्ड” जीता है। यह पुरस्कार इलेक्ट्रॉनिक उद्योग को आगे बढ़ाने और कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता (एआई) क्षमताओं को बेहतर बनाने में उनके योगदान के लिए दिया जाता है।
डॉ। जोशी न्यूयॉर्क में आईबीएम थॉमसन वाटसन रिसर्च सेंटर में काम करते हैं। यह पुरस्कार न्यूयॉर्क बौद्धिक संपदा कानून एसोसिएशन (NYIPLA) द्वारा दियाजाता है। यह पुरस्कार हर साल समाज के प्रति एक आविष्कारक के योगदान को सम्मानित करने के लिए सम्मानित किया जाता है और विजेता को $ 5,000 से सम्मानित किया जाएगा।
एलआईसी ने वरिष्ठ नागरिकों के लिए “पीएम वाया वंदना योजना” शुरू की
भारतीय जीवन बीमा निगम (LIC) ने प्रधान मंत्री वय वंदना योजना शुरू करने की घोषणा की है, जो वरिष्ठ नागरिकों के लिए एक सामाजिक सुरक्षा योजना है। यह योजना 26 मई से शुरू होकर 31 मार्च, 2023 तक के तीन वित्तीय वर्षों के लिए है। एलआईसी इस योजना को पूरा करने के लिए पूरी तरह से अधिकृत है, जो केंद्र द्वारा अनुदानित गैर-लिंक्ड, गैर-सरकारी, पेंशन योजना के रूप में काम करती है।
पॉलिसी की अवधि 10 वर्ष की होती है और 31 मार्च, 2021 तक पहले वित्तीय वर्ष के दौरान बेचे जाने वाली नीतियों के लिए, यह योजना एक वर्ष में देय मासिक के अनुसार 7.40 प्रतिशत की वापसी की सुनिश्चित दर प्रदान करेगी (जो प्रति वर्ष 7.66 प्रतिशत की तरह है) 10 वर्षों की पूरी अवधि के लिए।
मेजर सुमन गवानी को संयुक्त राष्ट्र सैन्य लिंग एडवोकेट पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया जाएगा
भारतीय सेना के अधिकारी मेजर सुमन गवानी को वर्ष 2019 के संयुक्त राष्ट्र सैन्य जेंडर एडवोकेट से सम्मानित किया जा रहा है। यह पहली बार होगा जब किसी भारतीय शांति रक्षक को इस पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया जाएगा। मेजर सुमन संयुक्त राष्ट्र मिशन के तहत दक्षिण सूडान में तैनात थी। हाल ही में उसने अपना मिशन पूरा किया है। गवानी 2011 में भारतीय सेना में शामिल हुए जहां उन्होंने ऑफिसर्स ट्रेनिंग अकादमी से स्नातक किया, फिर आर्मी सिग्नल कॉर्प्स में शामिल हुए। वह टिहरी गढ़वाल, उत्तराखंड के पोखर गाँव की रहने वाली है।
यह पुरस्कार संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिवों के अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस 29 मई को संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव गुटेरेस की अध्यक्षता में एक वेब समारोह के दौरान मेजर सुमन गवानी और ब्राजील के सैन्य अधिकारी कमांडर कार्ला मोंटेइरो डी कास्त्रो अरुजो को प्रदान किया जाएगा। संयुक्त राष्ट्र प्रमुख एंटोनियो गुटेरेस द्वारा इन दो महिला शांति सैनिकों को “शक्तिशाली भूमिका मॉडल” के रूप में वर्णित किया गया था।
शास्त्रीय संगीतकार श्यामला भवे का निधन
शास्त्रीय संगीतज्ञ श्यामला जी भावे का निधनहो गया। वह हिंदुस्तानी के साथ-साथ कर्नाटक संगीत पर भी एक समान महारथ रखती थी। उन्होंने “कदंबरी” नामक भारत के पहले संस्कृत धारावाहिक में संगीत भी तैयार किया था। उन्होंने 1997 से 2001 तक कर्नाटक संगीता नृ्त्य अकादमी में भी काम किया था।
उन्हें “उभय गण विदुषी (दोनों शैलियों में विशेषज्ञ)” के खिताब से सम्मानित किया गया और उन्होंने कुछ फिल्मों के लिए संगीत भी तैयार किया, जिसमें पहली संस्कृत फिल्म “आदि शंकराचार्य” भी शामिल है। वह कर्नाटक राज्योत्सव पुरस्कार भी प्राप्त किता था।
पीके नायर नाइजर में नए भारतीय राजदूत बने
भारत सरकार ने नाइजर गणराज्य में प्रेम के नायर को भारतीय राजदूत के रूप में नियुक्त करने की घोषणा की है। वह वर्तमान में हंबनटोटा में भारत के महावाणिज्य दूत के रूप में तैनात हैं। उनके शीघ्र ही कार्यभार ग्रहण करने की उम्मीद है। वह राजेश अग्रवाल का स्थान लेंगे।
डब्ल्यूएचओ और आईओसी ने खेल के माध्यम से स्वास्थ्य में सुधार के लिए टीम बनाई
विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (WHO) और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ओलंपिक समिति (IOC) ने खेल और शारीरिक गतिविधि के माध्यम से स्वास्थ्य को बढ़ावा देने के लिए एक साथ काम करने के लिए एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। उन्होंने COVID -19 के खिलाफ लड़ाई लड़ने के लिए टीम बनाई है।

मणिपुर का “खुडोल” शीर्ष 10 वैश्विक पहलों में सूचीबद्ध
COVID19 महामारी के खिलाफ एक समावेशी लड़ाई के लिए मणिपुर के “खुडोल” को शीर्ष 10 वैश्विक पहलों में सूचीबद्ध किया गया है। शीर्ष 10 वैश्विक पहलों के बीच पहल की लिस्टिंग संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव के दूत द्वारा यूथ पर की गई थी। “खुडोल” पहल एक इंफाल स्थित एनजीओ “Ya_All” द्वारा शुरू की गई थी।
LGBTQI + समुदाय के भोजन, स्वास्थ्य और स्वच्छता की आवश्यकताओं, एचआईवी के साथ रहने वाले लोग, दैनिक-मजदूरी कमाने वाले, बच्चों और किशोरों को “खुडोल” पहल के माध्यम से सुनिश्चित किया जा रहा है। यह एक भीड़-भाड़ वाली पहल है जिसने लगभग 2,000 परिवारों और व्यक्तियों की बुनियादी जरूरतों को पूरा करने के लिए 100 स्वयंसेवकों का एक नेटवर्क जुटाया है।

भारतीय नौसेना ने अभिनव सांस कपड़े सामग्री के साथ “NavRakshak” PPE किट का निर्माण किया है। यह PPE किट COVID-19 महामारी के खिलाफ काम करने वाले स्वास्थ्य कार्यकर्ताओं को बहु-स्तरित कवरडल पीपीई पहनने के लिए आराम प्रदान करती है जो रोगियों को गर्म और आर्द्र स्थिति में इलाज करते है।
जल वाष्प को अनुमति देने और पानी को प्रवेश करने से रोकने के लिए सामग्री की क्षमता को ब्रीथेबिलिटी के रूप में समझा जाता है। यह PPE किट मुंबई में इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ नेवल मेडिसिन के इनोवेशन सेल के नेवल मेडिकल स्पेशलिस्ट, सर्जन लेफ्टिनेंट कमांडर अर्नब घोष द्वारा बनाया गया है।
