PFC becomes India’s 2nd largest state-owned financial firm
State-owned Power Finance Corporation (PFC) has completed the acquisition of majority stake in REC Ltd by transferring Rs 14,500 crore to the government. The merger of both the entities will be completed in the next fiscal year in consultation with the government.
This acquisition and merger will make PFC second-largest government-owned financial player in the country based on the current market capital after State Bank of India (SBI) and also PFC will be the 3rd highest profit-making financial player in India.

Veteran journalist Prafulla Rajguru passes away at 82
Veteran journalist and academician Prafulla Rajguru passed away at the age of 82. Rajguru had retired as the head of the department of English from DCB Girls College in Jorhat in 1997. Rajguru authored four books and was a member of several social organizations like the Asom Sahitya Sabha.

GAIL, BHEL sign pact for development of solar power projects
State-owned gas utility GAIL India Ltd has signed an agreement with Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) for cooperation in the development of solar power projects.
The MoU aims at building a closer strategic partnership between the two Maharatna PSUs for jointly pursuing commercial solar power projects through participation in tariff / Viability Gap Funding (VGF) based competitive bidding process.

UK Parliament rejects EU withdrawal agreement for the 3rd time
The UK Parliament on Friday rejected PM Theresa May’s EU withdrawal agreement for the third time by 344 votes to 286. May said the vote would have “grave consequences” and the “legal default” was that the UK would leave European Union on April 12. European Council President Donald Tusk called an emergency EU summit on April 10 over today’s vote.

Dr Rajendra Joshi conferred with ‘Pravasi Bhartiya Samman’
Swiss-based NRI scientist Dr Rajendra Joshi has been conferred with the Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Award by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind. The Indian Ambassador to Switzerland Sibi George handed over the award citation signed by the President to Dr Joshi at his residence in Switzerland.

India & Bolivia sign 8 MoUs in various fields including culture, mining & space
President Ram Nath Kovind has been conferred with the highest State honor of Bolivia, “Condor de Los Andes en el Grado de Gran Collar” during his visit to Bolivia. President of Bolivia Evo Morales awarded him the Honour at a function held in Santa Cruz.
On the second day of President’s three-day visit to Bolivia, India and Bolivia signed eight MoUs in the fields of culture, Visa waiver arrangement for diplomats, exchange between diplomatic academies, mining, space, traditional medicine, establishment of Centre of Excellence in IT and Bi-Oceanic Railway project.
India offered a 100 million US Dollar Line of Credit to Bolivia for financing development projects. Both countries also agreed on the need for reform of the UN Security Council to make it reflective of contemporary realities. President is in Bolivia on the 2nd leg of his 3 nation tour. He is on a threenation visit to Croatia, Bolivia, and Chile.

PFC भारत की दूसरी सबसे बड़ी राज्य के स्वामित्व वाली वित्तीय कंपनी बन गई
राज्य के स्वामित्व वाली पावर फाइनेंस कॉरपोरेशन (पीएफसी) ने सरकार को 14,500 करोड़ रुपये हस्तांतरित करके आरईसी लिमिटेड में बहुमत हिस्सेदारी का अधिग्रहण पूरा कर लिया है। दोनों संस्थाओं का विलय अगले वित्तीय वर्ष में सरकार के परामर्श से पूरा किया जाएगा।
यह अधिग्रहण और विलय भारतीय स्टेट बैंक (एसबीआई) के बाद मौजूदा बाजार पूंजी के आधार पर देश में पीएफसी को दूसरा सबसे बड़ा सरकारी स्वामित्व वाली वित्तीय कंपनी बना देगा और साथ ही पीएफसी भारत में तीसरी सबसे अधिक लाभ कमाने वाली वित्तीय कंपनी होगी।

वयोवृद्ध पत्रकार और शिक्षाविद प्रफुल्ल राजगुरु का 82 वर्ष की आयु में निधन हो गया। राजगुरु ने 1997 में जोरहाट के डीसीबी गर्ल्स कॉलेज से अंग्रेजी विभाग के प्रमुख के रूप में सेवानिवृत्त हुए थे। राजगुरु ने चार पुस्तकें लिखीं और असोम साहित्य जैसे कई सामाजिक संगठनों के सदस्य थे।

सौर ऊर्जा परियोजनाओं के विकास के लिए गेल, भेल ने हस्ताक्षर किए
राज्य के स्वामित्व वाली गैस उपयोगिता गेल इंडिया लिमिटेड ने सौर ऊर्जा परियोजनाओं के विकास में सहयोग के लिए भारत हेवी इलेक्ट्रिकल्स लिमिटेड (भेल) के साथ एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं।
समझौता ज्ञापन का उद्देश्य टैरिफ / वायबिलिटी गैप फंडिंग (वीजीएफ) आधारित प्रतिस्पर्धी बोली प्रक्रिया में भागीदारी के माध्यम से वाणिज्यिक सौर ऊर्जा परियोजनाओं को संयुक्त रूप से आगे बढ़ाने के लिए दो महारत्न पीएसयू के बीच घनिष्ठ रणनीतिक साझेदारी का निर्माण करना है।

ब्रिटेन की संसद ने तीसरी बार यूरोपीय संघ की वापसी के समझौते को खारिज कर दिया
ब्रिटेन की संसद ने शुक्रवार को पीएम थेरेसा मे के यूरोपीय संघ के वापसी समझौते को तीसरी बार 344 वोटों से 286 के लिए खारिज कर दिया। मई ने कहा कि वोट के “गंभीर परिणाम” होंगे और “कानूनी चूक” यह थी कि ब्रिटेन 12 अप्रैल को यूरोपीय संघ छोड़ देगा। यूरोपीय परिषद के अध्यक्ष डोनाल्ड टस्क ने 10 अप्रैल को आपातकालीन यूरोपीय संघ का शिखर सम्मेलन बुलाया।

स्विस स्थित एनआरआई वैज्ञानिक डॉ. राजेंद्र जोशी को भारत के राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद द्वारा प्रवासी भारतीय सम्मान से सम्मानित किया गया है। स्विट्जरलैंड में भारतीय राजदूत सिबी जॉर्ज ने राष्ट्रपति द्वारा डॉ. जोशी को स्विट्जरलैंड में अपने निवास पर हस्ताक्षरित पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया।

भारत और बोलीविया ने संस्कृति, खनन और अंतरिक्ष सहित विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में 8 समझौता ज्ञापनों पर हस्ताक्षर किये
बोलिविया की यात्रा के दौरान राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद को बोलीविया के सर्वोच्च राजकीय सम्मान, “कोंडोर डे लॉस एंडीज एन एल ग्रैडो डी ग्रान कॉलर” से सम्मानित किया गया है। बोलीविया के राष्ट्रपति इवो मोरालेस ने सांताक्रूज में आयोजित एक समारोह में उन्हें सम्मानित किया।
राष्ट्रपति के तीन दिवसीय बोलिविया दौरे के दूसरे दिन, भारत और बोलीविया ने विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में आठ समझौता ज्ञापनों पर हस्ताक्षर किए, राजनयिकों के लिए वीजा माफी व्यवस्था, राजनयिक अकादमियों के बीच आदान-प्रदान, खनन, अंतरिक्ष, पारंपरिक चिकित्सा, आईटी में उत्कृष्टता केंद्र की स्थापना और द्वि-महासागरीय रेलवे परियोजना।
भारत ने विकास परियोजनाओं के वित्तपोषण के लिए बोलीविया को 100 मिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर की लाइन ऑफ क्रेडिट की पेशकश की। दोनों देशों ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद में इसे समकालीन वास्तविकताओं को प्रतिबिंबित करने के लिए सुधार की आवश्यकता पर भी सहमति व्यक्त की। राष्ट्रपति अपने 3 देशों के दौरे के दूसरे चरण में बोलिविया में हैं। वह क्रोएशिया, बोलीविया और चिली की एक यात्रा पर है।
