UPSC IES/ ISS Exam Eligibility Criteria: – Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts exam for the recruitment of Indian Economic Services (IES) and Indian Statistical Service (ISS). Eligibility details are given below…
For the Indian Economic Services (IES) and Indian Statistical Service (ISS), a candidate must be either:
(a). a citizen of India, or
(b). a subject of Nepal, or
(c). a subject of Bhutan, or
(d). a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January. 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e). a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that candidate belonging to category (b), (c), (d) & (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by Govt. of India.
Age Limit: –
(a). A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, 2017 i.e he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1987 and not later than 1st August, 1996.
(b). The upper age-limit prescribed above will be relaxable as follows:-
(i). 5 years age relaxable for SC/ ST candidates
(ii). 3 years age relaxable for OBC candidates
(iii). Age relaxable for 3 years in case of defence services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or disturbed area.
(iv). 5 years Age relaxable for Ex-service men including commissioned ofﬁcers and ECOs/SSCOs who have completed an initial period of a assignment of 5 years military service.
(v). 10 years Age relaxation for blind, deaf, mute and orthopaedically handicapped candidates.
(vi). Upto maximum of 5 years in the case of ECOs/SSOs who have completed an intial period of assignment of 5 years Military Service.
(vii). Upto maximum of 5 years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the state of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 01-01-1980 to the 31-12-1989.
Minimum Educational Qualifications:-
(i). A candidate for the Indian Economic Service must have obtained a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Economtrics from a University incorporated by of an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act Parliament or declared to be deemed as University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time.
(ii). A candidate for the Indian Statistical Service must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subject or a Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time.
